First stop: Yehliu Geopark
Yehliu Geopark boasts rare geological wonders. The trails are designed to be accessible, allowing even elderly people with limited mobility to move around easily in wheelchairs. It is also very close to the sea, allowing you to listen to the sound of the waves while viewing the strange rocks. The entire park has many strange rocks. Here are three must-see features:
1. Queen’s Head: The most representative strange rock and one of the most representative natural landscapes in Taiwan! Viewed from a specific angle, it looks like a queen raising her head, making it an excellent background for taking photos. In recent years, due to weathering, the neck has become thinner and thinner. It is unknown when it may disappear, so you must seize the time!
2. Fairy Shoe: Looks like a shoe left by a fairy. There is also a beautiful legend in the local area that the fairy shoe was left behind when the fairy fought with the sea turtle spirit.
3. Tofu Rock: Neatly arranged square rocks, like pieces of tofu, are naturally formed but look like they were artificially created, which is very peculiar and rare.
| Opening hours: 08:00 – 17:00
| Admission: Full ticket NT$120 / Concession ticket NT$60

Second stop: Thirteen Levels Remains
Known as the “Taiwanese version of the City of the Sky”, it looks like a lost palace from afar! In fact, the Thirteen Levels Remains is an abandoned industrial site with important historical and cultural significance. The Shuinandong Smelter was built in 1920 during the Japanese occupation period and is named after its layered architectural structure resembling thirteen floors. It witnessed the prosperity and decline of Taiwan’s mining industry and is an important part of modern industrial history.

Third stop: Yinyang Sea
Famous for its unique golden and blue seawater intersection, this spectacle is formed because the nearby Jinguashi Mountain contains a large amount of pyrite. These minerals release copper and iron ions after weathering. These ions enter the water, forming iron hydroxide and attaching to sediment, producing brownish-yellow suspended matter, which eventually causes the Yinyang Sea to present a unique yellow-blue gradient. The seawater in the bay is brownish-yellow due to the influence of these natural minerals, forming a strong contrast with the blue seawater in the outer sea, like a natural palette.
At the T-shaped intersection of Dongding Road and Provincial Highway 2, there is a straight road leading directly to the sea. The blue sky and white clouds complement each other, reminiscent of the classic scene in the anime “Slam Dunk”, so this place is also known as “Little Kamakura.”

Fourth stop: Golden Waterfall
A beautiful waterfall that can be reached without trekking through mountains and rivers. Due to the mining in the past, the water contains rich minerals and presents a golden color, which is the reason for its name. Especially under the sunlight, the waterfall shines with golden light, which is very spectacular.

Fifth stop: Gold Museum
Here is the world’s heaviest 220 kg gold brick. The four sides of the gold brick are equipped with glass panels to isolate it from the outside world, but the grooves on both sides allow people to reach in and touch it, which seems to increase wealth! There is a gold panning activity experience in the park. The experience requires additional ticket purchase (ticket price NT$100), lasts about 30 minutes, and you can also get a small gold sand souvenir. The experience sessions are weekdays 11:30/13:30/14:30, holidays 10:30/11:30/13:30/14:30.
| Opening hours: Monday to Friday 09:30 – 17:00, Saturday, Sunday and national holidays 09:30 – 18:00 (closed on the first Monday of each month)
| Admission: Full ticket NT$80 / Concession ticket NT$60
**Actual fees are subject to on-site prices

Sixth stop: Jiufen Old Street
Like the movie “Spirited Away”, Jiufen Old Street is located on the mountainside. When the weather is good, you can also overlook Keelung Port and the East China Sea. The ups and downs of the old street and the winding alleys make people feel like they are in a town where time has turned back. At dusk, the sunset reflects on the mountain city and the sea, and the scenery is very magnificent. At night, the red lanterns on the old street are lit up, and the entire district is filled with a quaint atmosphere. The A-Mei Tea House area is especially attractive to many tourists who come to take pictures.

There are also two super popular check-in spots: “Jiufen Theater” and “A-Mei Tea House”. Jiufen Theater is one of the filming locations for “A City of Sadness”. Now, simple Jiufen introduction videos are also played inside to allow tourists to experience the atmosphere of the movie theater. A-Mei Tea House is known as the scene of Spirited Away and is also a good place to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Jiufen.

Seventh stop: Houtong Cat Village
Cat lovers must come!!! That’s right, this is CNN’s selection of the world’s six best cat-watching spots! Don’t miss this cute little settlement on the way to release sky lanterns. There are many free-roaming cute cats here. Most of them are gentle and like to interact with people. There are also cat bridges, cat offices, cultural and creative shops, and characteristic cafes, which are worth a visit.

Eighth stop: Pingxi Sky Lantern
In Taiwan, the popular places to release sky lanterns are Shifen Old Street and Pingxi Old Street. The reason for choosing Pingxi is that it is the filming location for the movie “You Are the Apple of My Eye”. In addition to releasing sky lanterns to make wishes, you can also take beautiful scenes that are the same as the movie scenes.
| Sky lantern fee: Single color NT$150 / Color NT$250
**Actual fees are subject to on-site prices

Jiufen Charter Day Tour Transportation Guide
Here is also a summary of various transportation information to Jiufen, giving tourists who want to go to Jiufen more choices:
1. Take the train and transfer to the bus

After taking the train to Ruifang Railway Station, transfer to the bus to reach Jiufen. The time will be relatively longer, and there will be fewer attractions that can be arranged.
After exiting Ruifang Railway Station, walk to the left for about 400 meters and you will see the Ruifang Branch of the Police Department. The bus stop is next to it.
For the buses to Jiufen, you only need to remember: 788, 827, 825, 856, 1062, 965.
The bus frequency is very dense, so don’t worry about not being able to get on. Relatively, there are also many people. Every time I go to Jiufen, I see people in the bus crowded like sardines, afraid that their internal organs will be squeezed out…The journey takes about 20-30 minutes. Among them, Route 856 will pass through the Gold Museum and Shuinandong in addition to Jiufen.
2. Taxi

If the budget is sufficient and you don’t want to spend time transferring, you can also choose to take a taxi. There are many taxi drivers near the MRT station soliciting customers. The one-way fare is about NT$200-250 per person. Remember to ask clearly about the drop-off location, price, and whether you need to wait for the number of people to be full before departure, etc., in order to protect your rights.
3. Charter tour with driver

If you don’t want to take the bus and transfer to the point of going crazy when traveling, and you have to queue in long and smelly lines, you can choose Onetaiwantrip charter tour to avoid the problem of beautiful holidays being kidnapped by transportation time.Although you can drive to Jiufen by yourself, if you go on holidays, the crowds are terrible, and you may waste time looking for parking spaces. Private parking lots may also encounter the risk of random price increases. No one wants to spend money unnecessarily.
Charter tours have professional drivers to lead the way. After arriving at the destination, you only need to think about where to go next, what to play, and what to eat. Just make an appointment with the driver and get on the bus to the next location!
