1. Taking the Bus
The most popular route to Yangmingshan is Bus 260, which can be boarded at Taipei Main Station, MRT Ximen Station, or Jiantan. After arriving at the Yangmingshan Terminal, transfer to the 108 Leisure Bus to visit several popular spots, including Yangmingshuwu, Zhuzihu, Erziping, Xiaoyoukeng, Menghuan Pond, Lengshuikeng, and Qingtiangang.
Bus 260 operates from 05:40 to 22:30. During peak hours, it runs every 30 minutes, and every 60 minutes during off-peak hours. Waiting times can be long, so it is recommended to check real-time bus information before heading to the stop. From Taipei Main Station to Yangmingshan, the journey takes about 60-80 minutes without traffic, but can be much longer during peak tourist times or city congestion.
The 108 Leisure Bus operates from 07:00 to 17:30, with a bus every 30-40 minutes. Due to the limited frequency, it is almost always crowded on weekends, especially during flower seasons.
Overall, unless you only plan to visit a single spot on Yangmingshan, taking the bus is the least ideal choice. The travel time is too long and the uncertainty is too high, which is a waste of time for visitors on a limited schedule. If you want to visit Beitou as well, there simply won’t be enough time.
2. Taking a Taxi
If you have the budget and want to avoid transfer times, you can choose to take a taxi. Many taxi drivers solicit passengers near MRT stations.
